Jitte

The training weapon Jitte is a traditional Japanese training weapon that can be used in various fighting styles and martial arts. The Jitte is a short weapon, usually made of wood or metal, and features a unique shape with a straight stick and a hook-like projection on the side. At Aiki-Budo Sport, we only have this metal variant.

The primary purpose of the Jitte is to control and neutralize attacks, often without the use of lethal force. This training weapon can be used for both offensive and defensive techniques, the hook allows you to disarming opponents and block movements.

In training, the Jitte is often used to improve techniques, coordination, and speed. Learning to handle this weapon can also foster mental discipline and focus, which are important parts in the practice of martial arts.

Historically, the Jitte was used by police officers in Japan, especially during the Edo period, as a means of maintaining order without causing fatal harm. It is a weapon that not only requires technical skill but also a good understanding of distance, timing, and control.
