Bokken Japan with Tsuba

This practice sword is made of Japanese white oak. This practice sword does not come with a tsuba. This Japanese Bokken is long 102cm and has a flattened top. The Japanse Bokken also is available with blood groove or with Kenmine, the latter has no flattened top.

Origin

Bokkens are designed to restrict damage and injuries that occur when fighting with real swords. In addition they were used for training Samurai worriors in feudal Japan. In the end the Bokken itself has become a deadly weapon in the hands of well trained experts.

Current use

Nowadays Bokkens are still being used when practicing different martial arts. For example, think of: kobudo, ninjitsu, kenjitsu, kendo and aikido. A Bokken is very personal, the point of balance and stability are two important matters to take into account when selecting a Bokken.

In addition to the Japanese Bokken, other types of wood (ChineseTaiwanese) are also available, as well as other versions like Iwama Bokkens. These Iwama Bokkens are available in a straight or little curved version and they are a lttle heavier than the standard Bokkens.
